July 15 – Eric Thomas & Alexandra Valladares
Alexandra Valladares has lived in Durham for half her life and finds it to be an ideal hub for the synergy of arts and sciences. She holds B.S and M.S degrees in Chemistry and Earth Science, respectively, and sees musical endeavors as vehicles for connecting and communicating the spectrum of humanities. She is currently working for the BOOST program, housed at the Office of Medical Admissions at Duke University Medical Center, and performs weekly as an Artist in Residence for Arts and Health at Duke. Her love of singing began at an early age, as she comes from a family of singers and musicians of Honduran origin. Her fluency in Spanish, French and English allows for versatility in interpreting ballads from around the world. Alexandra has collaborated with local musicians over a wide range of musical styles and plans to record an album of original compositions and a book of poetry. On November 5 she will be showcasing a selection of pop, soft rock, and original tunes from her extensive and varied repertoire. As well as being a singer, she also plays guitar. Eric Thomas from “Constellation” will be adding his guitar skills to Alexandra’s for an evening of great music. This is their second concert playing together at Sacred Grounds – you’ll enjoy the range of music!
