Oct 24 – Don Smith

Posted on Updated on

Don Smith is one of our longest-running performers, having first appeared at Sacred Grounds in the spring of 2000.  Over the years, he’s done a number of different themed shows: train songs, music of The Carter Family and “mood swings” amongst others.  Tonight show is what he’s calling simply “The Favorites” … those tunes that he finds himself singing when there’s nobody else around to hear them.  Whether he’s behind the steering wheel, on the treadmill or in the shower, these are the tunes that keep coming back to him over and over again.  The selection will include old traditional folk songs from the 1800s along with tunes written and/or popularized by Norman Blake, Grandpa Jones, Kieran Kane, Hank Snow, Tom Paxton, Robin & Linda Williams, Jim Croce, Tom T Hall, Kenny Rogers, Kathy Mattea, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Bob Dylan.  As you can see, it’s quite a diverse selection.  We hope you’ll make it out for what promises to be an interesting and fun night of music.
