August 2 – Mike Poole
If you’ve been checking this web site, you’re probably expecting David Russell on this date. I received this from David this morning: “Have been invited to play the 40th Anniversary of the Carter Family Fold in VA on Aug. 1 and 2. A great honor. Will be dedicating an original Carter guitar, restored by a friend– one from the 1880’s which will be put in their museum.” I am happy for David and even happier to have such a good friend in Mike Poole. Mike graciously agreed to move his concert in from October to once again bail me out. Mike is another of our multi-talented regulars – he has the best repertoire of old country favorites that we’ve had on our stage and he’s also an accomplished Southern Gospel singer. Mike has also added 50s/60s songs (great fun for us older guys) and he often mixes genres – with his rapid-fire banter and funny stories and jokes he always entertains.
