Nov 9 – Bob Clarke and the Guitar Guys
The Guitar Guys, Lucas Triba, John Oakes, and Bob Clarke, are a trio of guitar players that will be playing solos, duets, and trios. Styles will include classical, jazz, and pop. Bob Clarke is returning for his fourth visit to Sacred Grounds and I believe is our first artist to receive a standing ovation at the end of his performance. He was personally chosen by Andres Segovia to participate in his 1982 Master Class in New York City and was the only member of the class who presented his work from start to finish without critical interruption. He has won both national and international guitar competitions and a full scholarship for the “Courses of Andres Segovia” in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Bob has served as Chairman of the Guitar Department at Duquesne University where he has his Masters Degree in Music Theory. Bob has performed solos at New York’s Lincoln Center, Washington D.C., Cleveland, Pittsburgh and a tour of Bolivia and has been heard on radio and television in North and South Carolina. Critical Review includes such comments as “ingratiating, elegant and artful” (New York Times) and “Clarke’s solid musicianship is a genuinely romantic treat (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette).
